Diwali makes Indians crackers

Well it's Diwali in India at the moment.

The big night was the 28th, the night before the Test started, but it runs for about five days.

Diwali is kind of like Christmas or New Year's for Hindus (the Sikhs are also celebrating it apparently, but have had conflicting comments about this from the locals so who really knows).

Delhi is a big, sprawling city.

To celebrate they unleash a serious amount of fireworks.

Unlike Australia, there is no regulation of it (although there was meant to be a 10pm curfew for igniting them) so imagine people for miles around shooting fireworks off the tops of their houses.

(I'd rather not know how people were maimed.)

An amazing sight, but the constant sound of explosions was a little unsettling.

Anyone with shell shock would be best advised to stay out of India at this time of year.

The Aussie bowlers have a case of shell shock of their own at the moment, but hopefully we can hang on for a draw, or better still knock up 800ish by the end of day four and then skittle the Indians on day five.

Dare to dream...

Every week is Ranga Week

As one of the unfortunate ones, I have a tinge of ginge in my beard, so it was with great horror I noticed what the men here do when they start to go grey.

Rather than accept their plot in life, they instead use henna to dye their hair to a ridiculous red orange.

It looks even more ludicrous when they keep the compulsory mo black.

Speaking of moustaches, not long till Movember, so start saving...
