Car thief drives off with student's exam notes

15 Feb, 2010 11:41 PM
FOR a Mount Rowan woman, finding her stolen yellow ute is the second most important thing she wants to do today.

Lauren Maher had been in Melbourne on the weekend studying in preparation for her final exam in a science degree at the University of Melbourne.

When she returned on Sunday night, Ms Maher briefly went to the supermarket.

She left the ute for about half an hour in the Eastwood St car park, but when she got back it was gone.

Inside the stolen ute were all her study notes for the exam, which she has to sit today.

There was also a final essay saved on a memory stick.

After informing police, Ms Maher, 21, and her family spent yesterday searching bushland in the district for the yellow XF Falcon ute.

"I wasn't so worried about the car, I was worried about the exam notes,'' Ms Maher said.

"It's my last exam to get my degree. If I was to fail it, I wouldn't get my degree for another six months."

If you have any information about the stolen ute, call police or email editassist@thecourier.com.au

Can you please give us the rego number of the ute please so we can help look for it? Also what style is a XF Falcon? Do you have a picture of a similar one? I hope you make a bigger plea and add a photo of this ute so we can at least get the memory stick back for Lauren. I dont know her, but as a mother can understand her disappointment at losing such valuble study notes and the impact of her exam.

I agree with More Info Please. Why hasn't The Courier printed the registration number? I wouldn't know an XF, and there'd be a few yellow utes in town, however my memory for rego numbers is excellent. Privacy could not be an issue if she wants her car back that badly.
