SYDNEY cyclist Peter McDonald stunned a world class line-up to capture the men's elite road race at the Australian Open Road Cycling Championships at Buninyong today.He out-sprinted three-time world champion Michael Rogers and Adam Hansen to claim gold in the 163km event.While McDonald claimed the major prize in front of a crowd nearing 20,000, Ballarat's Damien Turner put in the most courageous ride of the day to secure the ``King of the Mountain'' title.Turner battled his way through cramp for 15 of the 16 tortuous laps to earn the red polka dot jersey.Full coverage of the national road race championships in The Courier tomorrow.
