ONE man has been arrested after a police car's window was smashed with a lump of concrete following a pub brawl in Ballarat on Thursday night.The incident occurred just after 9pm, following reports of a brawl at the Peter Lalor Hotel.Ballarat police Sergeant Peter Carey said uniformed members parked the patrol car outside the hotel and went inside to deal with the reported brawl, leaving the vehicle unattended."It's alleged one of the people involved in the brawl has gone outside and attacked the police vehicle with a lump of concrete," he said."There is significant damage to the vehicle."Sergeant Carey said no police members were injured during the attack, which occurred about 9.15pm."A 29 year old Ballarat man was charged with a number of offences, including criminal damage and affray," he said.
View Larger MapThe man was bailed following a police interview and will appear in court at a later date.The police car was parked in Mair Street, near the hotel, when the incident occurred."We are seeking any witnesses to the incident to come forward," Sergeant Carey said.The front passenger window to the marked sedan was completely smashed in by the attack, while large dents were visible in the passenger and rear door of the vehicle.Police were yesterday seeking quotes to repair the vehicle, which will be off the road for a number of days.It's believed the damage bill is about $1000.Anyone with information on the attack can call Ballarat police on 5336 6000 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
