AFL pre-season match in Ballarat

NORTH Melbourne will clash with Western Bulldogs in a NAB Challenge match at Ballarat's Eureka Stadium on Saturday, March 12.The match-up has the potential to feature a strong on-field Ballarat flavour, with Drew Petrie, Cam Richardson and Ben Mabon on the Kangaroos' list, and Andrew Hooper, Liam Picken and Jordan Roughead with the Bulldogs. With Petrie to miss the opening of the AFL home and away season owing to a one-match suspension, this will be his last opportunity for a full-scale hit-out in his comeback from long-term injuries before round two.Richardson (North Ballarat City/North Ballarat Roosters) and Mabon (Hay/North Ballarat Rebels) are in their first year with North Melbourne.Hooper (Golden Point/Rebels) has been promoted to the Western Bulldogs' senior list after being a rookie last year.Picken and Roughhead are each products of the Rebels' program. This is the second year in a row North Melbourne has played a challenge match in Ballarat. The Kangaroos defeated Hawthorn in front of a 4500-strong crowd last season.
