ELAINE'S youth will now get to kick a ball around in their own backyard, thanks to new goal posts at the recreation reserve.
Elaine Tennis Club president Shane Dunne said the town would be able to host an Auskick program next year.
"At the moment, the kids have to travel 15 minutes away to Buninyong or 40 minutes to Bannockburn," Mr Dunne said.
"Now children from surrounding areas, including Lal Lal, Morrisons and Meredith will be able to come here."
Mr Dunne said having Auskick in the town gave the children one more reason to stay in Elaine on the weekends.
"Before there was nothing to do and parents had to take the kids out of the town," he said. "Football is the lifeblood of any town.
"This is a great initiative and it will help build the community further."
Costing $3500, the goalposts have been erected as part of Moorabool Shire Council's Youth's Event budget.
West Moorabool ward Councillor Tom Sullivan said the installation of the goalposts was a great outcome for Elaine.
"We had some money left in the budget and we used it to replace the goalposts," Cr Sullivan said.
