Ballarat teenager Alexandra McMaster has taken a step closer to achieving her goal of being a professional ballet dancer after she was accepted into the Australian Ballet School.
The 15 year old is currently a student at the Carole Oliver School of Ballet in Alfredton.
Alexandra said she enjoyed what came from the hard work involved in dancing.
"When you dance, it's like nothing else matters," she said.
Alexandra said she had been dancing since she was four and being accepted into the Australian Ballet School had been one of her dreams.
"It's been one of my ultimate goals to achieve," she said.
"When I found out, I was so excited, I was jumping around."
Carole Oliver School of Ballet principal Anita Michael said Alexandra was a dedicated student who had worked hard to secure a spot at the Australian Ballet School.
Ms Michael said hundreds of people from Australia and New Zealand auditioned for a place in the the school, before Alexandra was selected to go through to the final process.
This involved three days of intensive training and interviews, before final selections were made last week.
Alexandra will attend the school in Melbourne from next year.
