MOTORCYCLISTS dressed in every shade of pink came out yesterday to show their support for family and friends suffering from breast cancer.
The riders were part of the annual Pink Ribbon Motorcycle Ride held across Victoria to help raise $100,000 for the Breast Cancer Network Australia.
Ballarat ride co-ordinator George Fong, who was also the lead rider, said it took them two hours to join their counterparts in Mambourin Gardens in Werribee.
“We picked up another 30 riders from Creswick and Bacchus Marsh,” Mr Fong said.
“There were riders from Geelong, Central Victoria and eastern Victoria.
“But we were the largest contingent.”
Mr Fong said this was the third year that the event was held.
“We collected over a $1000 in cash before arriving at the event and that’s not including online contributions,” he said. “I feel strongly about cancer victims and feel there are still too many.”
The annual Pink Ribbon Motorcycle Ride in Victoria is an initiative by the Point Cook Motorcycle Club.
Point Cook Motorcycle Club’s Marcel Gromperts said the event not only created a strong visual event but also raised awareness about breast cancer.
