THE combined hiking experience between these two is limited, but their passion has no boundaries.Paul Sheridan and Stacy Shepherd will put their bodies to the limit in October when they walk the Kokoda Track, all in the name of autism. The pair will be two of 19 people to make the trek to raise awareness for Autism Victoria. And they both have their own special reasons for doing it.Mr Sheridan’s brother has three children who have autism, which has compelled him to make the journey, and Mrs Shepherd is a pyschologist who works with autistic children on a daily basis.“I’m always keen to raise awareness about autism and if this helps raise awareness then all the better,” Mrs Shepherd said. The pair are also hoping to raise money for Autism Victoria. They have currenlty raised more than $5000 between them and are aiming to reach a total of $14,000.They both admit that the journey will put their bodies to the ultimate test and say it will be physically harder than anything they have done before.“I’m not a particularly avid walker so it should be interesting to say the least,” Mrs Shepherd said.Mr Sheridan said he still needed to do do some training before his body was prepared.“I’ve still got a fair way to go before I’m up to scratch,” he said.Visit www.everydayhero.com.au/paul_sheridan or www.everydayhero.com.au/stacy_shepherd to donate.
