HAIRDRESSING salon The Stag is putting up a fight to stop people from parking in its Howitt St car park.
Traffic personnel have been permanently hired on Thursday and Friday nights to control traffic in the car park and ensure parking spaces are used only by the hairdresser's clientele.
The business has also posted warnings around the car park advising people not to park there unless they are clients.
The Stag proprietor Alan Roberts said parking had been an issue for the past 12 months since the store opened.
"Unfortunately it's getting congested with people parking in the area. To overcome that we have put on personnel to control the traffic and (help) guarantee to run our business," Mr Roberts said.
The Stag shares the car park with two unoccupied buildings and is entitled to use the 12 parking spaces, Mr Roberts said.
A garden bed separates the next car park which is shared by Domino's Pizza, Video Ezy and On The Rocks bottle shop.
"Each of the three shops have the whole car park. The other shops - Domino's, the bottle shop and video shop - they are contracted by a body corporate tied by the shops," Mr Roberts said.
A Domino's spokeswoman said the company was aware of a car parking issue in the Domino's Wendouree vicinity.
"This is not a Domino's issue and all matters related to parking should be directed to the landlord of the building," she said.
Mr Roberts said the only way to stop people from parking in the shop's car parking spaces was to hire traffic personnel during peak periods.
"It's costing us money. It's a badly lit area anyway," he said.
"It's worked very well. We are looking after our clients and people which we employ."
The Courier was unable to obtain a comment from Video Ezy and On The Rocks yesterday.
