Beaufort man dies in house fire

THE name of a 20-year-old man killed in a housefire in Beaufort is yet to be released.

The man was one of five people living in the Haplin St house when it erupted into flames about 5.45am

this morning.

Fire crews could do little to save the trapped man, who was found in the kitchen to the rear of the house.

Investigators were at the scene until late today.

A 22-year-old man was taken to Ballarat Health Services Base Hospital with mild smoke inhalation.
