ONE of two boys charged over a bushfire that threatened houses at Mt Clear on New Year's Eve appeared in a Children's Court yesterday.

The 11-year-old boy, who cannot be identified, faces one count each of intentionally causing a bushfire and intentionally destroying property.

The fire burnt through 31 hectares of bushland.

The boy's lawyer applied for an adjournment at yesterday's brief hearing.

The magistrate ordered the boy to return to court on April 16.

The second boy, 12, is listed to appear in a Children's Court at a later date. He faces one count each of arson and recklessly causing a bushfire.
