BREAKING NEWS: COLLEGE WINS GIRLS' HEAD OF THE LAKE

25 Feb, 2005 01:52 PM
Ballarat and Clarendon College has won the Girls' Head of the Lake rowing competition at Lake Nagambie this afternoon.

The College crew of Cass Hobbs, Jess McIver, Courtney Walker, Simone Scott and cox Kate Watson narrowly edged out Ballarat High School to win by a canvass.

Ballarat Grammar finished in third position.

The winning time was eight minutes 25.25 seconds.

It was College's first win in the Girls' Head of the Lake since 2002 and just their second win since 1984.

The victory sparked scenes of wild jubilation along the shores of Lake Nagambie where hundreds of Ballarat school children have gathered in support of their teams.
