MOORABOOL Shire Bungal ward councillor Wendy Kendall has resigned. Cr Kendall confirmed yesterday she had lodged a letter of resignation with Moorabool Shire Council chief executive officer Robert Dobrzynski.She will officially step down from the role on Friday, May 16. But the councillor declined to detail the reasons for her departure, beyond stating that it was a "matter of principle", until she had discussed her decision with Moorabool Shire Council Mayor Dianne McAuliffe. "I am deeply sorry to any resident of the Moorabool Shire Council who feels that I am letting them down by this decision, but it is a matter of principle," Cr Kendall said. "I need to uphold my values and principles and I don't believe I can do that in the chamber following a decision that was made last Wednesday." The Courier understands the decision in question was a council vote to reject the recommendations of the Victorian Ombudsman about conflict of interest in the public sector.After voting in favour of adopting them at a Governance Advisory Committee meeting last week, the 17 recommendations were rejected in a council vote at this week's regular council meeting.
