 Dancers take on South Street

Dancers take on South Street

02 Oct, 2011 11:19 PM
IT’S hard to believe that 12-year-old Olivia Henderson has almost a decade’s experience as a dancer.

But watch the Ballarat student perform and it’s obvious that her practice has paid off.

Olivia was one of more than 100 dancers from across Australia who competed in the Royal South Street Society Energetiks Dance Competition at the weekend.

The competition is running for two weeks at Her Majesty’s Theatre.

Olivia performed a three-minute dance routine in the neo-classical solo division on Saturday.

She has spent six months training to perform at the Royal South Street Society event, and is a student at Ballarat’s Kerry Moore School of Ballet.

“I am usually there six or seven times a week,” she said.

The Royal South Street Energetiks Dance Competition will continue throughout this week, before concluding on Saturday, October 8, with an open jazz troupe event featuring dancers from dancing schools across the country.
