Danger algae at Pyke's Creek

BLUE Green Algae has been found in Pykes Creek Reservoir.Health authorities say the water is not safe for recreational use, including swimming, fishing and boating.Southern Rural Water has urged the public to avoid direct contact with contaminated water and avoid water discoloured by the algae scum.Warning signs have been erected at several key locations around the reservoir. The algae can be dangerous to humans and animals and can cause illness if swallowed.The authority says people who come into direct contact with contaminated water should wash immediately in fresh water.
