PLANS to transform Wendouree's former Joe White Maltings silos into apartments remain on track.Project manager Russell Dickson told The Courier this week demolition works at the site would be completed in a couple of weeks."Everything bar the two banks of silos and the original malt storage building has been demolished," Mr Dickson said.He also said the proposal for the apartments would be lodged with the City of Ballarat after Christmas."Depending on council, we are looking at starting construction mid to late next year," he said.Joe White Maltings ceased operations at the site in 2005.It was bought by Ballarat developers late last year.If the proposal is given the green light, the Gregory St silos will be turned into up to 30 residential apartments.Mr Dickson told The Courier earlier this year that every apartment would incorporate the curved walls of the silos, and the texture of the original interior wall would be retained where possible. There will be no external additions to the silos, except for balconies. The malt storage building will be converted into an undercover carpark.
