Digby Gram not guilty on manslaughter charge

A SUPREME Court jury has found 20-year-old Ballarat man Digby Gram not guilty on a charge of manslaughter over the death of Rhys Marshall.Mr Marshall died in hospital after he was struck by Mr Gram at Alfred Deakin Place in the early hours of May 10 last year.The jury retired to consider its verdict in Ballarat yesterday after a trial which began last week. It handed down a finding of not guilty shortly before 10.30am.Members of Rhys Marshall's family shed tears as the verdict was handed down and declined to speak outside court.About 15 supporters greeted Mr Gram outside the court.Defence counsel Peter Morrissey said he was very grateful for the jury's decision adding: "there's no winners at all in this case".He said Mr Gram was sorry about the incident, saying it was a very sad day for all people involved.
