Disney rape trial resumes in court

02 Jul, 2009 12:13 PM
THE trial of former television identity Gavan Francis Disney has resumed in the County Court at Ballarat.

Disney, 60, is accused of sexually assaulting a teenage co-worker while employed at Ballarat television station BTV 6, now WIN Television, during the early 1980s.

He has pleaded not to two counts of rape and 13 counts of indecent assault.

The trial began on Monday, but was adjourned on Tuesday to allow Disney to attend his father-in-law's funeral yesterday.

The court remains closed this morning while the jury hears from the complainant.

Disney's former BTV 6 colleague Frederick Fargher is expected to give evidence this afternoon.

Judge Paul Lacava is residing over the trial.
