EUREKA Stadium could become a venue for more than just football this year.
North Ballarat Football Club's new head of marketing, Justin Abrams, yesterday said that music concerts and festivals were on the agenda for the facility.
He said although it was too early to speculate on the type of musical acts that would perform at the club, the venue would suit a family-friendly festival where people could bring along blankets and enjoy a variety of music.
Five or six stages could be set up, with acts ranging from jazz to alternative music, he said.
"We want to make it a big community event.
"And on the other side of that, we could rope off a section and have something for another demographic similar to the Big Day Out."
Mr Abrams has previous experience organising and marketing the well-known Queenscliff Music Festival.
He said plans for a music festival for North Ballarat were about increasing community involvement.
"My role as head of marketing and development is about getting the community involved and making them realise there's a great facility in Ballarat to use."
Mr Abrams started working at North Ballarat Football Club three weeks ago, after spending the past six years running his own business, Red Onion, in Geelong.
Red Onion specialised in working with football-related businesses.
Mr Abrams said returning to the club where he worked as a kid and played football was like "coming home".
