Fire destroys Gail's Patchwork Emporium in Sebastopol

TRIBUTES have poured in from around Australia after fire destroyed the renowned Gail's Patchwork Emporium in Sebastopol on Sunday.People have sent their messages of support to operators Gail and Rob, at hearing the news.Six fire trucks and 35 fire fighters battled for 40 minutes to douse a fire at the Yarrowee Street property.A CFA spokesman said they received a call at 10.33pm about a house fire at Gail's Patchwork Emporium.On the way to the call, the brigade could see smoke and flames. "A bluestone and timber two-storey dwelling 50 by 60 meters was fully alight when the firefighters arrived," she said.Photo gallery"Six trucks with 35 fire fighters from Ballarat city and Sebastopol were at the scene."The spokeswoman said the trucks were on scene for four hours but the fire was brought under control after 40 minutes. "The cause of the fire is under investigation," she said. A Ballarat police spokeswoman said the fire was deemed not suspicious.Online, Fay Jones wrote she was devastated to hear of the loss."There will be many people all over Australia who will mourn the loss of such a wonderland of beautiful things," Ms Jones said.Linda from north west Tasmania said she had visited a few times to gather fabric from the collection."So sorry about Gail's...enjoyed (the) lovely house and gardens," she wrote.
