Hepburn Wind: community handed the keys

02 Aug, 2011 02:02 PM
HEPBURN Wind has become the first community organisation to own and operate a wind farm in Australia.

The cooperative was officially handed the keys on Friday.

It is considered a major milestone for the wind farm, which generated its first electricity to the grid in June.

Project officer Tracy Anthony said it was an honour to take possession on behalf of the members.

In a statement, Hepburn Wind said final works were needed in the local electricity network before the wind farm was running at full capacity.
