POLICE have warned holiday makers to protect their homes after a number of burglaries in Ballarat this week.
Three homes were burgled while residents were holidaying.
Two lap tops worth $2500 were taken from one home in Wendouree between 9am December 29 and 3pm January 1.
Police said thieves forced their way into the home through a back door.
In another burglary, thieves gained entry through a side window at a home in Nicholson St, Black Hill.
Police believe two televisions and a surround system were taken from the home between 5pm December 30 and 4pm January 1.
Televisions were also taken in a break-in at a Wills Crt home in Sebastopol between 10am December 31 and 6.30pm January 1.
Ballarat Crime Desk Leading Senior Constable John Ferguson said the homeowners were away at the time of the burglaries, but they had arranged house minders to check on their homes.
"These people have done the right thing by getting people to look after their houses," Leading Sen Const Ferguson said.
"People should let their neighbours know they are away and make their houses look liveable."
Meanwhile, an electric guitar and amplifier worth $1000 was taken from a home in McLennan Close, Mt Pleasant.
The theft occurred between 11pm December 31 and 8am January 1 while the home was unoccupied.
Two clubrooms at the Ballarat airport have also been broken into sometime between December 20 and January 1.
Anyone with information on the burglaries can contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or the Ballarat Police Station on 5336 6000.
