iPhone 4 arrives in Ballarat

30 Jul, 2010 01:45 AM
TECHNOPHILES lined up at the Ballarat Telstra Shop last night for the release of Apple's iPhone 4.

About 20 people from Ballarat, Bendigo, Bacchus Marsh and Melton braved the cold until midnight to get their hands on the gadget.

What do you think of the iPhone 4? Let us know by posting a comment below.

Melton's Michelle Day said she arrived at the Bridge Mall store at 8pm to avoid the massive lines in Melbourne.

Sebastopol's Matt Delves said he was looking forward to using the device.

''The main thing is the speed and the display,'' Mr Delves said.

It was unclear how many iPhones were available at Ballarat.

Ballarat was the only regional Telstra store to open its doors at midnight for two hours. It will reopen at 7am this morning.

Pity to see people who's lives revolve around items like this. Some people just have to have things like this to make them feel whole.

It's just a phone you idiots. A story about 20 people on the street for one night, waiting for a piece of technology. How about more reporting on the people that are on the streets every night? ...Oh wait, Steve Jobs hasn't invented the iSoup bus yet.

Only 20 people sucked in by all the hype just to get the latest gadget. I think this ladies T-shirt says it all, they are all living in Disneyland.

Well I will be getting one. Thought Id get in before the inevitable Apple bashing comments appear. Im an Apple guy through and through, have almost every one of there products, However after reading the media beat up about the antenna issues, I thought it may be time to jump ship and go for an Android device. Both me and my partner have just switched to HTC Desire phones, both pieces of junk, one constantly crashes and reboots itself, battery life is horrendous. Blueotooth drops out unless you have it plugged into a charger. At Ballarat station I get one bar of reception on Next G, my previous Iphone 3G had full reception. A complete and utter dissapointment. One of the guys here in Melb lined up to get the Iphone 4 so I can see it here in the flesh, guess what no death grip or signal dropoputs when held either way. So it looks like its back to the Iphone for me. Cant wait.

Why thanks Craig, you must work for the telecommunications industry for that comment full of plugs for Apple. It's a phone, as other comments on here reflect, why don't The Courier spend more time reporting on issues for the homeless, or issues around education and so on rather than wasting our time taking advertising dollars from Apple and recycling advertising as news stories.

Is that all readers fo the courier do? whinge? seems it, must be a town full of pathetic whingers. Who cares, you didnt have to comment. Your the ones with no lives, leaving comments on articles that clearly dont interest you. This does interest me as an iphone app developer and a Apple fanboy. If its not worth saying dont say it at all.

I wonder how many of these people will be sending there NEW iphone 4 back to apple cause it faulty??? there are soooooo many problems with the new iphone 4 why not wait until after the rush to get one that isn't faulty???? I for one am still happy with my iphone that i have before this one was even gunna come out......... I might upgrade to the new iphone in bout a year once its been all sorted out but for now i will probably just upgrade to the next size up of the iphone 3gs but thats it. Why pay for something thats faulty and then on top of that have to spend even more money to stop the reception being interferred with??? I'm glad I have someone that works and telstra and he warned me against getting this new phone........ waste of money when all your gunna have to do is send it back
