Kryal Castle's new owners revealed

THE mystery buyers of Kryal Castle have finally been revealed.Jay Finch and Wendy Alexander, a Melbourne-based couple with roots in the region, are the new owners of the medieval-style development. The castle was reported to have been sold almost a month ago but the identity of the buyer remained a secret. The couple would not be drawn on the sale price, however it is believed to be less than the previous reported sale price of $10 million.Mr Finch is the director and founder of Finch Industries in Brooklyn, Melbourne, and owns a house in Greendale, north of Ballan as well as other property investments.Ms Alexander grew up on a farm in Western Victoria. She has studied the science of colours and is also a psychic. The couple said they had grand plans for the castle, which included offering fantasy weddings with a Disney theme and opening a health and well-being centre within the walls.Having studied the psychic phenomenon in England, Ms Alexander also hopes to demonstrate her skill and take advantage of the "rumoured haunting" within the castle. In keeping with the romance, the couple plan to get married at the castle in April, having recently become engaged on the day they decided to purchase it.They are yet to move into the castle and Mr Finch said there was a "lot of hard work ahead"."We've got to revamp it back to its former glory, because what Keith (Ryall) did was amazing," he said. The 22-bedroom, 30-bathroom medieval-themed tourist attraction is set on 10 hectares of land in Warrenheip. The bluestone castle comes with its own moat, drawbridge, tavern and maze.Ballarat real estate agent Harcourts managed the sale, and director Gerard Cosgrave said it was great to finally have it sold."It's one of the most expensive listings we've had," he said. The former owners, Keith and Joyce Ryall, built the castle in 1972 and have opted for a quiet life of retirement.
