The company was awarded the tender for the Lake Wendouree Reuse Scheme this week.

It was one of five companies shortlisted for the project, including two from Ballarat, after Central Highlands Water called for tenders in late July.

Under the agreement, JHL Civil will build four kilometres of pipeline from Ballarat North Treatment Plant in Gillies Rd to Pauls Wetland in Dowling St.

They will also build the storage and pump stations, and other associated works.

The tender also includes an irrigation pump station and pipeline from Lake Wendouree to irrigate City Oval.

CHW customer relations manager Paul O'Donohue said JHL Civil was chosen on its experience, price and ability to get the project completed on time.

JHL Civil was contracted by the City of Ballarat earlier this year to complete works at Sebastopol's Marty Busch Reserve for its recycled water system.

Mr O'Donohue said the Lake Wendouree project could be delivered earlier than planned if all went well.

He said even if JHL Civil encounters rock it should not delay the project.

"We don't believe there is (rock), but if so, it will just be part of the contingency and they will bring in extra resources to get the job done," he said.

Mr O'Donohue said it was expected contractors would be on site in the next week to begin the project.

The pipeline is part of the $7 million Lake Wendouree Water Supply Project, jointly funded by the State Government, CHW and the City of Ballarat.
