Majak Daw suspended from North Melbourne

08 Feb, 2012 10:55 AM

NORTH Melbourne ruck prospect Majak Daw has been suspended indefinitely by the club for "missing rehabilitation sessions and acting contrary to the club's culture and professional expectations."

The Age has reported a short time ago that Daw, 20, will be restricted to training with North's VFL affiliate Werribee.

The Courier understands the decision has not stemmed from any incident involving the team's community camp in Ballarat this week.

The athletic rookie is the first Sudanese-born player to make it on to an AFL list. He is yet to play a game for North Melbourne, but excited fans with several displays of skill and dash last season. He was re-signed for two years in October 2011.

North Melbourne chief executive Eugene Arocca and chief of football Donald McDonald addressed the matter at a press conference at the Kensington boxing gym, but lived up to a statement released by the club stating that the club "will be limited in what they can say about the matter."

"The club understands there will be great interest in the circumstances which led to Majak’s suspension, but it is not in a position to elaborate," it read.

"The club will continue to support and work closely with Majak during his suspension."

Arocca and McDonald could only add that the club's leadership group decided on the penalty; Daw agreed with the suspension; and Daw would still have access to North Melbourne medical services whilst in exile.
