Man armed with shotgun breaks into home

19 Mar, 2010 02:26 PM
A man armed with a shotgun broke into a home in Ballarat East last night.

Police were called to a house in Lal Lal St around 11.40pm after a balaclava-clad man forced entry into the home.

Police later arrested a 25-year-old North Melbourne man in relation to the burglary at a pharmacy in Main Road Ballarat committing a further burglary.

He was arrested without incident.

Police said the man who broke into the Lal Lal St house demanded money from the 23-year-old resident before fleeing from the premises.

The occupant of the home was not injured and it is yet to be determined whether anything was stolen from the address.

Police are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen the man at or around the Ballarat East address or running from the scene.
