VICTORIA has numerous mineral springs, but some remain virtually unknown to tourists and locals alike.
A new book launched at Hepburn Springs on the weekend provides a guide to Victoria's Spa Country.
Ballarat East MLA Geoff Howard said he had made some discoveries reading the book and was surprised to learn there was a mineral spring near Eastern Beach in Geelong.
"Not only is the book a wonderful promotion for the spa region, it also offers a fascinating insight into the history of mineral springs in great detail," Mr Howard said.
Convenor of the Victorian Mineral Water Committee, Peter Winter, said there had been demand for the book for many years.
Full of information about the Daylesford-Hepburn district, Mr Winter said the book evolved from an out-of-print title by Edward and Maura Wishart.
"It's a coffee table book and a practical tourist guide," Mr Winter said.
Spa Country: Victoria's Mineral Springs is available for sale at Daylesford Museum, Paradise Bookshop and the Daylesford Newsagency.
