Moorabool Shire hosts Victorian Governor

10 Mar, 2010 11:49 AM
VICTORIAN Governor Professor David de Kretser and his wife Jan are visiting the Moorabool Shire today.

The couple will tour Ballan's recently completed GP Super Clinic and Gordon Primary School, before attending a civic reception for volunteers at St Anne's Winery.

They will also meet with councillors and senior council staff.

Moorabool Shire Mayor Pat Toohey said the council was honoured to host the Governor and his wife.

''We are delighted to be able to show the Governor and Mrs de Kretser the great qualities of Moorabool Shire,'' he said.

''We look forward to showcasing some of the wonderful and vibrant aspects of Moorabool’s communities.''

The Governor was made an Officer of the Order of Australia in 2001 and a Companion in the Order of Australia in 2006, and he received the Centenary Medal in 2003.

He assumed office as the 28th Governor of Victoria on April 7, 2006.
