11 Feb, 2012 12:14 AM
POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a burglary at a mobile car wash in Mt Clear they believe amounts to more than $30,000.

Ballarat police Criminal Investigation Unit Detective Sergeant Steve Howard said three offenders drove to the Mr Magic Car Wash on Geelong Road about 2am yesterday in a white tray truck – possibly stolen from an address in Sebastopol earlier on Thursday night.

Detective Sergeant Howard said the offenders appeared to have driven over a teller machine, ripping it out from where it was bolted to the concrete before lifting it onto the back of the truck and fleeing the scene down Recreation Road.

Detective Sergeant Howard said the theft amounted to a considerable amount of money.

“The machine itself is worth $31,500 and the proprietor believes there was approximately $1500 cash inside,” he said.

Anyone who may have information about the incident is urged to contact Ballarat Police on 5336 6000 or Crime Stoppers on

They are probably dumb enough to think that the machine will keep dispensing cash forever!!!

Mr Howard - "We don't have a crime problem in Ballarat". Plus crimes of violence they always seem to be, (The Media) focusing on alcohol when there is a HUGE drug problem in Ballarat - I'd me MORE concerned about the illegal and illicit drug issues in the Town before you attempt blame publicans and night venues imposing fines and strict rules and regulations on them. I mean deal with the bigger issues and we might finally see that Ballarat has more to it that just some alcohol blamed-problems.
