A DRUG charge against convicted murderer Darren John Ellis was dropped yesterday.
Ellis was jailed for 21 years in 2008 after being found guilty of the 2006 murder of his girlfriend, 19-year-old Naomi Maree Bernaldo.
He was to face a charge of possessing equipment to manufacture a drug of dependence, but police withdrew the charge at Ballarat Magistrates Court.
Ms Bernaldo's body was discovered by a kayaker in St George's Lake, Creswick, in November 2006.
Ellis was sentenced to 21 years' jail with a non-parole period of 17 years.
