A REMODELLED business hub was launched yesterday in conjunction with the Forestry Fiesta.
"La Gerche Gully" will be the business home of Parks Victoria, Ballarat Region Seed Bank and the re-opened Creswick Nursery.
The hub was formerly the Landcare Centre and office for Parks Victoria, the seed bank and Greening Australia, and is named after John La Gerche.
Mr La Gerche made a tremendous effort to launch the nursery in 1886, and it resulted in the impressive mass plantings that stand today.
The new vision for the hub will build on that pioneering work.
In the future people may visit, walk and work in this evolving environment.
There will be guided walks of the La Gerche Track and the Landcare Trail and the Ballarat Region Seed Bank will conduct tours through the seed bank premises.
Yesterday also saw an art exhibition by many of the Ballarat region's artists displayed in the original Creswick nursery office, a heritage-listed building.
