A BILLBOARD promoting the Art Gallery of Ballarat exhibition The Naked and the Nude will remain in Victoria St for the time being. The Courier yesterday reported a complaint had been lodged with the Advertising Standards Bureau over the billboard, which features a painting of a naked woman reclining on a bed with her breast and nipple visible.City of Ballarat city marketing and business development director George Sossi said the billboard would stay where it was "unless we are instructed to take it down".Mr Sossi said council had yesterday sent a letter to the ASB responding to the complaint."Our stance is that we don't believe we've contravened any code at all and our letter addresses that," Mr Sossi said."There are many examples of nude art around the city, like sculptures, which have been there for many years." The complaint will go before an ASB board meeting next month.
