Nurses’ pay decision upheld
THE Federal Court has rejected an appeal by Ballarat Health Services to overturn a decision that it underpaid shift allowances for psychiatric nurses by more than $110,000.

It follows a win last year by the Health and Community Services Union (HACSU) against BHS, when BHS was ordered to pay members over disputed afternoon and night shift allowances for work on weekends and public holidays.
Ballarat Health Services psychiatric nurse Paschal McGowan said the Federal Court’s rejection of the appeal was a win for every member of staff.
