SUE Fugiel has defeated more than 1000 other hopeful
tipsters to win this year’s The Courier/McDonald’s Online Footy Tipping Competition.
Ms Fugiel finished on 123 for the AFL season, beating
her nearest rival by just one tip, to take home the $2000
cheque.
Four others finished one tip behind to share third place.
Ms Fugiel said 2010 was the first year she had entered
a tipping competition.
‘‘I’ve always just done it at home with my husband. I
always beat him,’’ she said.
‘‘But this is the first time I’ve entered an official competition.’’
Ms Fugiel said she and her husband went to Zagame’s,
where she had also entered a tipping competition, to celebrate on Monday night. She found out after checking the leader board that she had also taken out the tipping competition there.
The Collingwood fan said it was a ‘‘gut feeling’’ she used to do her tips, and that it helped that the Magpies had been winning this season.
‘‘I always tip with my heart. True fans do that.’’
Ms Fugiel plans to put her prize money towards a trip with her husband to visit their son and his family in
Queensland, as well as improving a backyard pergola
and buying some new clothes.
