Prime Minister Kevin Rudd visits Ballarat

18 Feb, 2010 08:43 AM
PRIME Minister Kevin Rudd will visit Ballarat today.

The Prime Minister is expected to turn the first sod of the Western Hwy-Anthony's Cutting realignment project at Hopetoun Park this morning, before travelling up the highway to Ballarat.

Here, he will hold a community cabinet meeting at Ballarat High School at 6pm.

Further details of his visit are being kept under tight wraps, although he is expected to unveil a bronze bust of himself at the Ballarat Botanical Gardens.

More to come.

He will be. Up at the lake yesterday having lunch and we saw one of his team on the phone walking up and down the avenue discussing the launch.

Oh wow, I now know what Catherine King looks like. I think this must be the first time she has walked the streets of Ballarat in years. Talk about a publicity stunt. Kevin Rudd, Catherine King, all smiles and no substance.

I'm not sure you could ever call going to Ballarat a "junket". If he didn't come, he'd be "ignoring the bush". It seems politicians of either colour can't win.

I still remember Catherine King when she was a social worker. Seems nothing's changed.
