Residents in Buninyong worried over plan to build 40-metre high tower

09 Dec, 2011 10:28 PM
BUNINYONG residents have raised concerns that a 40-metre high NBN telecommunications tower will be erected in the township.

A planning application to place the tower on private property in Macs Road, Buninyong, is currently before Ballarat City Council.

But resident Amanda Rossato said locals were concerned they were being ignored, with just one out of six Macs Road residents notified in writing about the tower.

She said a mediation meeting was planned for this Thursday at 17 Armstrong Street South, Ballarat, at 5pm.

If you dont want to get left behind in the dark ages.... let the tower go ahead.

Telstra described the proposed site as "not effective" and "unable to further enhance service requirements". No surprise this has no mobile carrier interest. But offering signal triangulation this tower is perfectly positioned for NBN Co to switch over from the Super-fast BB via cable only a few kms away at the Uni. Although Buninyong is shown to qualify, we get fixed wireless +tower + environmental compromise, aesthetic concerns and possible health implications ONLYso that expensive cable won't have to run all the way to the coast. Nice try, CC and NBN Co. "Up front, honest & transparent"? NO

Maybe speedynet would like the power built in his backyard.
