AROUND 300 singers showed off their vocal ranges over the weekend, at the contemporary and country music section of the Royal South Street competitions.
Singers from across Victoria and Tasmania travelled to Ballarat to compete in the event, which ran from Friday to yesterday at Her Majesty’s Theatre.
The event is one of the Royal South Street Society’s most diverse, and included performances from groups, ensembles and solo vocalists as young as eight years of age.

It was presided over by adjudicators Gerald Marko and Wendy Todd.
Contemporary vocal and country music chairman Lloyd Harvey described the standard of singing as very high.
“It’s great to see so many young people have the confidence to get up on stage and perform doing something they love,” he said.
Royal South Street competitions run until October 30.
