CRESWICK has been hit by severe flooding with the main road completely under water and residents evacuated.More than 80 people have registered at the Creswick Town Hall Relief Centre, including some from the Creswick Nursing Home, caravan park and nearby senior citizens units.Fears a man may have been washed away by the floods have been allayed, with police confirming a body seen swept down the town's main street was that of a dog.The main road is completely underwater and many homes and businesses have also been damaged by floods.The Creswick Bowling Green and Creswick Football Oval are also completely submerged.SES and CFA crews are working tirelessly to construct sandbag walls to stop any further damage.Hepburn Shire councillor Don Henderson said the community was pulling together."Everyone's put in a great effort," he said."There's been a quick response, with a lot of older people and a small community of elderly citizens evacuated earlier this morning."They'll be looked after and no one will be without a bed tonight."Local cafes and bakeries have supplied the relief centre with food and the Creswick Forest Resort has supplied blankets and temporary accommodation.Meanwhile, flash flooding has been widespread throughout the region.Springs Road in Brown Hill received significant flooding earlier, with families trapped in their homes.The Jennings family rang their neighbours after they found water had completely covered the bridge to their property."I've never seen anything like it," Simon Jennings said."We had to take to horses up to higher ground so they wouldn't get swept away."
