SKIPTON will continue to be monitored as round three of rain is forecast to hit flood affected towns across the Ballarat region on Monday.
A senior meteorologist said the light rain predicted _ between five and 10 millimetres _ would not be an issue for the Ballarat area, but it would be monitored.
''It's very light rain but it can cause a renewal of minor flooding around the area. It's not an issue for Ballarat, but it will be monitored,'' The Weather Channel senior meteorologist Dick Whitaker said.
Mt Emu Creek has receded since Skipton was flooded last weekend, but sandbags will remain in place until next week as a precaution. Residents said the flood threat had eased despite 14mm of rain falling on the town on Thursday.
Skipton Hotel publican Josh Nixon said trouble would only strike if there was more than 25mm of rain in the north-west at Beaufort and it flowed downstream.
''We are open for business as usual. We have the sandbags up. I am not worried,'' Mr Nixon said.
Skipton Roadhouse and Newsagency owner Nigel Ponder said he was not concerned about further flooding at this stage.
''The sandbags are still there. They may move them during the week. They worked extremely well last weekend,'' Mr Ponder said.
This weekend is expected to be mostly sunny with a top of 13 degrees today and tomorrow. A cold front is predicted to move across the Ballarat area, with showers late on Monday.
Meanwhile, Hepburn Shire Council officers have visited 83 homes as part of its post impact assessment process. None of these homes have suffered structural damage. Eighty households have registered for emergency grants.
The council continues to operate its flood assistance line on 5345 8399. It will be open this weekend from 10am to 4pm.
Recovery centres will operate at the Clunes and Creswick town halls next week.
