Spray used to disarm woman at Wendouree

07 Sep, 2010 10:29 AM
POLICE subdued a woman with capsicum spray after she was found armed with a knife in Wendouree last night.

They were called to the Norman Street address about 7.45pm after passers-by reported the woman in the street threatening people with the weapon.

Police called on the woman, 37, to drop the knife and when she refused, they used OC foam to disarm her.

Victoria Police media officer Senior Constable Wayne Wilson said the woman was taken to Ballarat Base Hospital for a psychological assessment.

There were no injuries from the incident.
