THE STAR players from the 2009 St Patrick's College first XVIII football team know what it's like to be in the spotlight.
The recently released book 'Wednesday Warriors' follows the experiences of the young footballers during their 2009 season.
It is written by former St Patrick's College student James Gilchrist, who wanted to display the school's commitment to Australian Rules.
Captain of the 2009 first XVIII Marc James said he is excited to feature in the book.
"It's pretty amazing," he said.
"At the start we didn't think much of it, but towards the end we realised it would be pretty special."
'Wednesday Warriors' explores the challenges and triumphs faced by aspiring Australian footballers.
It also discovers values that are upheld by all team members.
"It's about St Pat's football, loyalty, playing for your mates and hardships," Mr James said.
"You do things for St Pat's that you wouldn't do for anyone else.
"We've realised how significant playing for St Pat's was."
Director of the Kelty Resource Centre at St Patrick's College, Julia Petrov, said the book reflects on St Patrick's past, present and future in relation to Australian Rules.
"We have to look at the big picture," Ms Petrov said.
"It's part of a big story and we see that this goes back a long way. It's a proud tradition."
Ten per cent of all sales will be donated to the St Patrick's College indigenous education program.
