THE future of the former St Columba's Hall, or what remains of it, may be decided by the end of this month.
The hall, which is stored at a Ballarat City Council Ring Rd depot, was blown over in a wind storm in August.
Only weeks earlier, the council had called for expressions of interest in the historic structure.
Despite the building being all but destroyed in the storm, the advertisement was not withdrawn.
The deadline for expressions closed last month
The council will not say how many, if any, expressions have been received until councillors are briefed on options for the hall.
The council's development and infrastructure director Trevor McCullough said a report would be received later this month.
Built in 1890, the hall was originally at the former Redemptorist monastery at Wendouree.
It was later moved to St Columba's Primary School at Ballarat North, where it stood for more than 80 years.
In 2005, the school decided it wanted to move the hall from the school site to make way for redevelopment work. In 2007, after no suitable site could be found, the council accepted the building as a "gift'' from the school. But two weeks after the building was moved, it was badly damaged in a storm.
