Taking punt at a lucky Lotto shop

31 Dec, 2005 12:12 AM
THE champagne could be flowing tonight if you bought a ticket in the $32 million Tattslotto Megadraw from Sebastopol Lotto.

The outlet is one of the top three luckiest in Victoria after selling three division one winning tickets this year.

Sebastopol residents were the fortunate ticket-holders with one person winning $467,000 in March and two others each winning $312,500 in November.

"And in the past 20 years there have been 22 division one winners taking home a total of $8.7 million," outlet owner Harley Morton said.

The outlet sold 1000 megadraw tickets in the first day of sale, and expects to sell about 4500 tickets by 7pm today.

Wendouree Newsagency and Tattslotto yesterday sold 1000 tickets and expected to sell about 2000 today.

Mr Morton said most people dreamed of paying off the mortgage, taking a holiday and helping kids with home deposits.

The affable owner has never had the chance to tell someone they had won but said a happy winner once left a bottle of champagne at the outlet's front door.

"Most people want to keep their winnings quiet," he said.

Tattersall's anticipates more than nine million entries will be bought around Australia by the time the six winning numbers are drawn at 8.40pm.
