Tapping into another stage of life

28 Apr, 2005 11:57 PM
STUDENTS at a new Ballarat performing arts school will get a glimpse of life behind the curtains when they meet some tap stars today.

Youngsters in the Curtain Call Performing Arts Studio will get to meet travelling tap-dance sensations BPM (Beats Per Minute) when they arrive in Ballarat.

The school, which has attracted 170 eager young students in three months, aims to provide youngsters with an insight into life as a performer.

They will spend an hour with the tap stars finding out what life behind the scenes is like.

BPM, an energetic group that will light up the stage at Her Majesty's Theatre tonight, has strong links with Ballarat.

Producer Matt Henderson grew up here, as did set designer Damian Muller and lighting designer Matthew Heenan.

Former Ballarat Academy of Performing Arts student Susie Franky is also helping organise the tour.

BPM will perform at Her Majesty's Theatre from 8pm. Tickets are $30 for adults, $26 concession, and $18 for children 16 and under, and can be booked on 5333 5888.

For information on Curtain Call Performing Arts Studio call Judi on 0408 179 216.
