FORMER Ballarat teacher accused of having sexual liaisons with two schoolboys will stand trial in the County Court.Michelle Lynn Dennis, 33, was teaching at Ballarat High School when she allegedly engaged in sexual acts with two students outside the school grounds.Dennis, who was charged and arrested in October, pleaded not guilty to 26 sexual assault charges at a committal hearing at Ballarat Magistrates Court yesterday. The court heard from witnesses who alleged Dennis had sex with one of the boys twice and performed oral sex on the other.A former friend of one of the boys told the court he first met Dennis when he walked with his friend to meet her in her car one night."I told her to look after (the alleged victim). She was rather rude and said she was the adult and she knew what she was doing," he said. The witness said his friend returned to the house about four hours later and told him Dennis had kissed and performed oral sex on him.He told the court he had seen a text message which he claimed to be from Dennis on his friend's mobile telephone that featured a female's breasts. The witness said at the time he did not know Dennis was a teacher and thought she was a friend of the complainant.Another friend of one of the boys told the court his friend thought having sex with Dennis was an achievement. He told the court he did not tell his friend not to do it.The court heard Dennis wrote a text message to another student inviting him to have sex with her, but he refused.Defence counsel Andrew Tragardh argued there was no text messages or emails to confirm Dennis had sex with one of the boys.Dennis sat with her mother and two supporters during the one-day hearing before Magistrate Peter Couzens.Dennis was committed to stand trial on 12 counts of sexual penetration of a child, nine counts of an indecent act with a child under care/supervision and five counts of indecent acts with a child. She will appear in the County Court in Melbourne for a hearing on September 8.
