Thief steals 33 sheep at Raglan

31 Jul, 2010 12:45 AM
BEAUFORT has been hit by a sheep thief who stole 33 merino wether sheep from a property in nearby Raglan this week.

Leading Senior Constable Bob Taylor of Beaufort police said the sheep were taken from the property on Raglan Road between last Monday afternoon and Thursday.

``We believe they would have needed a couple of tray trucks or a couple of tandem trailers to move this number of sheep and want to hear from anyone who may have seen or heard of them,'' Leading

Senior Constable Taylor said.

He said the sheep were tagged with blue or black coloured ear tags with the identification 3PYMC067 and some of them had a tip taken out of their right ears.

Police suspect dogs were used to round up the animals, with some sheep found exhausted and dead in the dam.

Anyone with information can call Leading Senior Constable Taylor on 5349 2101.
