Tributes flow for Ballarat's Jessica Wills

06 Sep, 2010 01:10 AM
ONLINE tributes continued to flow over the weekend for an 18-year-old Ballarat woman who died in a car crash on Friday night.

Jessica Wills was taken to the Ballarat Health Services Base Hospital after the collision before she was transferred to The Alfred in Melbourne.

The 18-year-old was a passenger in the car when it collided with another vehicle at the intersection of Peel and Mair streets about 8.15pm. A Facebook page set up in the teenager's memory was inundated with comments and

photographs. It had recorded more than 860 visitors yesterday.

Loved ones and visitors to the site expressed shock and disbelief at the teenager's death in a collective outpouring of grief.

Photographs were loaded onto the page of Ms Wills in playful poses surrounded by family and friends. Ms Wills was described as a beautiful and warm-hearted person whose tragic death came far too early.

In one comment Ms Wills was remembered as a loyal friend who was "there to support you no matter what".

Online comments dedicated to the teenager also flowed on The Courier's website. In one post Ms Wills was described as a "lovely girl" who would be sadly missed by friends and family.

Yesterday police could not confirm the condition of the driver of the car Ms Wills was travelling in.

The 22-year-old male occupants of the other vehicle were not injured in the collision.

Police are seeking any witnesses to the collision who have not already been spoken to. They can contact Ballarat Highway Patrol on 5336 1306.

My deepest sympathy to Jessica's family and friends. I didn't personally know Jessica but felt like I did as her grandma spoke often of her, and I am deeply sadden to hear this terrible news. My thoughts are with you all. Take care of each other, Sincere Sympathie Leonie.

Alison - We knew your sister through my grand daughter Venessa - she was a delightful girl who often had us in fits of laughter - we will miss her coming to our place with Venessa- she has left us far too soon but we have happy memories of her - take care and our thoughts are with you and your family

What a sad waste of life. Our thoughts are with her parents and family. To loose a child is tragic but at the peak of her life - 18. Time to go into the world and establish herself.
