RESIDENTS at the Queen Elizabeth Centre all came down with a fever yesterday –royal wedding fever that is.Staff at the Bill Crawford Lodge, the dementia unit at the nursing home, brought in their wedding dresses yesterday to celebrate the royal wedding between Prince William and Kate Middleton.More than 15 dresses, some dating back to the 1950s, were on show for the residents before a replica wedding cake was cut later in the afternoon.“The residents, especially the ladies loved looking at them,” nurse manager Beverly Adams said.A high tea was also celebrated, which Mrs Adams said was particularly loved by the men.Mrs Adams said there were a few “interesting” dresses from decades gone by and that the more modern ones were clearly the pick of the bunch.“A couple of staff has also dressed up wonderfully which really is making the day even more special,” she said.Mannequins to display the dresses were borrowed from Bridal World, and Eventique Consulting supplied accessories for the big day.
